My Review
The Traveling Woman is book two in the Traveling Duet. You should read book one, The Traveling Man, before reading book two (and this review).

Before I start waxing poetic about how much I adored The Traveling Woman, I must start by saying that I also loved The Traveling Man. It was a surprise to me. I’m not sure why as I loved Jane’s book Lifers, but I have never been one to enjoy books that start during the characters childhood. Honestly, that was one of the things that I loved MOST about book one. We got to see Aimee & Kestrel grow up, be each other’s best friend and confidant. It broke my heart when their young love did not survive (due to no fault of their own) and I cheered when they came back together in adulthood and discovered their love once again. So saying this I was DEVESTATED when Aimee left Kes. I didn’t get it. Why would she do that? I kept flipping the pages wanting more answers, but there were none. I had to wait. Ugh! Waiting to find out, wanting to know. I’m not sure I ever wanted to read the next book in a series more.

In the end Aimee leaves Kestrel to follow her own dream of becoming a teacher. Okay, I get it. She can’t just follow him around for the rest of their lives chasing his dreams. She needed her own. BUT leaving him? Luckily Kes is not one to sit and wait. He takes it upon himself to go to her (SWOON). This was amazing! What a gesture. For someone who has lived a type of freedom we can only imagine to being confined by not only a house, but by society itself. That’s love! That’s a love one can dream for, hope for.

It doesn’t take Aimee long to realize that the restraints of her life are stifling to Kes and she takes the biggest leap of faith. She becomes the traveling woman. ß YES, the best thing ever! Knowingly giving up her dream so that she can follow the one she loves while he lives his dream. Talk about sacrifice. Aimee doesn’t see it that way. She knows her life is with Kes….wherever that may take them and he does everything within his power to prove that he is worthy of her love (Double SWOON).

Okay, so now we come to a pivotal point in the story. Something big is going to happen, you can FEEL it. I’m not going to spoil what it is, but it’s devastating! And Aimee…..Aimee is transformed. She is strong. She is the backbone. She has strength and power within herself that I could only HOPE to have in similar circumstances. My heart was broken all over again, but for different reasons. Love will be tested and sacrifices will be made. Will Kes & Aimee get the fairytale ending they deserve?

Jane Harvey-Berrick weaves magic with her words. Draws you into a fantastical story of love, sacrifice, commitment and understanding. I highly recommend The Traveling Duet to any reader. In fact, I would recommend any of Jane’s books. Her writing is magical and I encourage you to take a ride.

I was ordinary. Nice. He was extraordinary. And he wasn’t always nice. Moody and difficult, brilliant and beautiful, Kes scared me and he protected me. He could be incredibly hurtful and incredibly thoughtful. He wasn’t perfect, but he was perfect for me. He challenged me, he took me out of my safe little box and showed me the world could be magnificent. He was everything I wasn’t.

Aimee Anderson is ten when the traveling carnival first comes to her nice little town. She doesn’t expect her world to change so completely. But meeting Kestrel Donohue puts her life on a different path. Even though she only sees him for the two weeks of the year when he passes through her home town, his friendship is the most important of her life. As a child’s friendship grows to adult love, the choices become harder, and both Kes and Aimee realize that two weeks a year will never be enough.
About the Author

I lived in London for over 10 years and have a love affair with New York. It's only since I have moved to the countryside, that the words have really begun to flow. I live in a small village by the ocean and walk my little dog, Pip, every day. It’s on those beachside walks that I have all my best ideas. Writing has become a way of life – and one that I love to share.
