I've been sitting on this review for a few days now. Why? Because I honestly didn't know how to rate or review it. Shadowing Me was part of the Breakneck series, but didn't feel like it, but that isn't to say it wasn't a good book. It was, it was just different. I know, I know, that doesn't really make sense, but that's really the only way I can explain my feelings. I felt like Shadowing Me, was more of a Breakneck BDSM book, which completely worked, but I also felt like I was missing some of the MC.
Crystal wrote this book, like many of her others, in multiple point of views and I personally LOVE that. Shadowing Me mostly revolves around Tatiana (ZZ's daughter and Shadow.) You'll remember them if you've read the previous books. At first I couldn't really remember who they were, and while Crystal doesn't go back and review the previous books, it did all finally come back to me. I loved their story, and their journey, but wanted more...
Gahh...I feel like by saying I wanted more that I'm making it sound like it wasn't a good book, because it was, but I loved how raw the Breakneck boys had been, and didn't feel like I got that from this book. That was the only down fall...
At the beginning and end of the book there is a personal note from Crystal explaining why she wrote the book the way she did and I think her note leads me to believe that we'll get the "more" that I'm talking about in the next few books. That's the great thing. We're getting a few more full length novels and also a few novellas. I can't complain about that.
So...how did I rate the book? Overall, I would have to give it a 4. I know a lot of people are rating it a 3, and while I get it, and that's still a great review, I think they mainly did it because like me they wanted more of the rawness. But, the writing and story was strong and so were the characters, so to me that deserves...
